Beyoncé expressed her pride and support for Kelly Rowland at the New York premiere of Tyler Perry’s new film, “Mea Culpa,” on Thursday, February 15. The premiere marked a significant moment for Rowland as she ventures into acting.
On February 16, Beyoncé took to Instagram to celebrate the occasion, sharing a photo featuring herself, Kelly Rowland, mother Tina Knowles, cousin Angela Beyincé, and husband JAY-Z. The caption read, “[That’s] my best friend! [That’s] my best friend! So proud of you, Kelly.”
“Mea Culpa,” set to hit Netflix on February 23, stars Rowland as a criminal defense attorney handling the case of a seductive artist accused of murdering his girlfriend.
Beyond professional collaboration and music, Rowland and Beyoncé share a deep friendship that has endured since they lived together when Rowland was 11, evolving through various stages, including their early days in Destiny’s Child.
Recently, Rowland praised JAY-Z’s speech at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, where he called out the Recording Academy for snubbing Beyoncé for Album of the Year. Rowland expressed her happiness for JAY-Z’s words, noting that he made many artists feel seen and heard.
In the meantime, Beyoncé is gearing up for the release of “RENAISSANCE ACT II” on March 29. The project includes singles “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM” and “16 CARRIAGES,” marking her first venture into country music shortly after Super Bowl LVIII.
