Watching his son mature right in front of him is an unparalleled experience for DJ Khaled. In a recent conversation with PEOPLE, as he discussed his collaboration with premium baby stroller brand Cybex for a unique We The Best Stroller project, Khaled, 45, also shared insights into his relationship with his 4-year-old son, Asahd, and the profound conversations they share.
“God has blessed me with two wonderful boys, an incredible queen and mother [his wife Nicole Tuck], and has granted me the opportunity to be a great father,” Khaled expressed to PEOPLE. “This is the most incredible feeling I’ve ever experienced because it’s genuine. There are simply no words to describe this feeling unless you’ve experienced parenthood yourself. It’s a ꜱеnꜱation for which a word has not yet been coined, and it’s truly extraordinary.”
Reflecting on his son’s growth, Khaled remarked, “Watching my kids like Asahd — who is now 4 years old — we’re having genuine, mature, and intelligent conversations. I remember when he was just a newborn, and now I see how intelligent he is and how wonderfully he fulfills his role as a big brother to his younger sibling, Aalam.”
Khaled emphasized the significance of nurturing greatness in children, saying, “It’s incredibly gratifying to guide a child toward greatness because they are born with inherent greatness. Providing them with the right knowledge and love yields unbelievable results. It’s like witnessing genius at its peak. I find myself moved to tears every day just by seeing my children. They are my everything.”
Khaled and Tuck, also 45, welcomed Asahd into their lives in 2016 and later welcomed Aalam, now 14 months old, in 2020. Witnessing Asahd transition into the role of a big brother has been a joyous experience for Khaled.
“Asahd recognizes Aalam as his little brother,” Khaled shared. “He used to kiss my wife’s belly, and now he eagerly grabs Aalam’s face to shower him with kisses every day. It’s an incredibly heartwarming sight.”
“He is aware that he has a role in teaching Aalam based on his own experiences,” Khaled continued. “He talks about what he was doing at Aalam’s age and feels responsible for ensuring Aalam follows suit.”
As for expanding their family, both Khaled and Tuck are open to the idea of a third child.
“I’m ready. I’m ready for whatever blessings God bestows upon us, and we’ll be grateful,” Khaled expressed. “Having another beautiful blessing and giving my boys a sister would be wonderful. Ultimately, it’s in God’s hands, and we’re grateful for the journey. Family is everything.”
