When you think of a “power couple,” Beyoncé and JAY-Z often come to mind. As parents to three children, Blue Ivy, Rumi, and Sir, they seamlessly blend their iconic careers with their family life.
Over the years, Beyoncé has shared numerous photos of their eldest daughter, Blue Ivy Carter. Recently, Blue Ivy even joined her mother on stage, showcasing her growing presence in the spotlight. However, Beyoncé has been more reserved about sharing images of her twins. That changed on August 1 when Madonna posted a rare glimpse of Rumi backstage at the “Renaissance” Tour on her Instagram Story, highlighting just how much she has grown. According to the trailer for Beyoncé’s upcoming “Renaissance” Tour movie, fans might soon get a closer look at all three of their children.
Beyoncé and JAY-Z’s children have been in the public eye since before their births. Beyoncé announced her first pregnancy during a 2011 MTV Video Music Awards performance of “Love on Top.” In 2017, she shared a stunning photo of her baby bump on Instagram to reveal she was expecting twins, which caused a media frenzy.
Throughout the years, the couple has occasionally opened up about their journey as parents. In a 2012 interview with Anderson Cooper, Beyoncé expressed how having a daughter gave her life new purpose. “I realized why I was born, and more than anything, all of the things I want to pass on to my child — and the best way of doing that is not by preaching or telling her, but showing her by example,” she said.
JAY-Z echoed similar sentiments in a 2021 interview with LeBron James. He shared that becoming a father fundamentally changed his perspective on life. “I didn’t learn how to swim until Blue was born. There goes everything you need to know,” he explained. “This is a metaphor for our relationship. If she ever fell in the water and I couldn’t get her, I couldn’t even fathom that thought. I gotta learn how to swim. That’s it.”
