Beyoncé turned 38 two weeks ago, but the pop megastar is ensuring fans don’t forget how amazing her 37th year was. She recently shared over 60 intimate photos from the past year on her personal website, giving a rare glimpse into her life.
Among the collection, perhaps the cutest photo features Beyoncé dressed as Lisa Bonet from last Halloween, carrying her two-year-old twins, Rumi and Sir. Beyoncé flawlessly channeled Bonet’s boho-chic style with a lacy white dress, tophat, and signature dreadlocks. Rumi and Sir looked adorable in matching yellow patterned outfits. Notably, her eldest daughter, Blue Ivy, seven, was absent from the post.
Beyoncé also shared more snapshots of her dressed as other trailblazers from the Black community, including Olympian Florence Griffith-Joyner and singer Toni Braxton. Channeling Joyner, nicknamed Flo-Jo, Beyoncé donned a custom one-legged pink outfit by Death By Dolls, complete with Florence’s number 371. She even emulated several of Flo-Jo’s iconic poses.
Florence Griffith-Joyner set world records for the 100m and 200m in 1988, records that still stand today. Known as the fastest woman of all time, Flo-Jo tragically passed away at 38 in 1998 due to an epileptic seizure.
Beyoncé’s birthday commemoration not only celebrates her milestones but also honors influential figures who have inspired her.
