Hitmaka reveals that Diddy approved a famous B.I.G. sample for King Combs after denying it to Conway

A new controversy seems to emerge daily regarding Diddy. Hitmaka recently accused the Bad Boy founder of withholding a Notorious B.I.G. sample from Conway The Machine, only to later approve it for his son, King Combs.

During an interview on Shade 45 with Superstar Jay, Hitmaka, formerly known as Yung Berg, recounted the story. He began by discussing the creation of “Naughty” for Boosie Badazz, only to find out that Puff had taken the track and given it to his son.

The Chicago producer shared, “No disrespect to Christian [Combs] because we’ve done a lot of other great records together, but I preferred Boosie’s version.” He recalled Puff telling Craig Kallman, CEO of Atlantic Records, “No, I need that record.” This led to Kallman calling Hitmaka to ask, “What did you do to Diddy?”

The conversation then shifted to an unreleased Conway The Machine track titled “Can’t You Be,” which sampled Total and Notorious B.I.G.’s classic 1995 hit “Can’t You See.” Hitmaka noted that working with Diddy often came with challenges.

“Puff will definitely do it,” he said. “I sampled a Diddy song for Conway, but he refused to clear the record for us.” The only person he would clear it for was his son, Christian Combs.

This revelation comes just weeks after Hitmaka disclosed that Diddy had been interfering in his career for years. On The Joe Budden Podcast in late February, Hitmaka revealed that Diddy had shifted his request for beats for The Love Album: Off The Grid, instead contacting Hitmaka’s collaborators to alter his sound without his direct involvement. Reportedly, Diddy had signed Hitmaka’s partner Rob Holladay years ago and then turned Holladay against him.
