Diddy’s mother criticizes his portrayal as a ‘public lynching’ in light of the sеxual abusе allegations, ‘He is not the monster they have depicted him as’

Diddy’s mother, Janice Smalls Combs, defended her son as he faces trial for sеx trafficking and rackеteering, along with multiple sеxual аssault allegations.

“It’s heartbreaking to see my son judged not based on the truth, but on a narrative built from lies,” Janice stated in a message shared with Page Six through her lawyer on Sunday.

“Witnessing what feels like a public lynching of my son before he has had the chance to prove his innocence is a pain that’s impossible to express. Like any human being, my son deserves his day in court to finally share his side and demonstrate his innocence.”

Janice also mentioned the surveillance footage that captured Diddy аssaulting his then-girlfriend, Cassie, at a hotel in 2016.

“I’m not here to paint my son as perfect, because he isn’t. He has made mistakes in the past, just like everyone else,” she said in a statement, which Diddy’s representative confirmed to Page Six.

“My son may not have been completely honest about some matters, such as denying he has ever been violent with an ex-girlfriend, especially when the hotel’s surveillance footage suggests otherwise.”

Janice also shared her personal belief about why Diddy chose to settle with Cassie out of court in November 2023.

“Sometimes, the truth and a lie become so intertwined that it’s frightening to admit any part of the story, especially when that truth is unconventional or too complex to be easily accepted,” she explained.

“This is why I think my son’s legal team decided to settle the lawsuit from his ex-girlfriend rather than fight it to the end, leading to a backlash as the federal government interpreted this choice as an admission of guilt.”

Cassie filed the lawsuit against him last November, alleging rаpe, sеx trafficking, and ongoing physical abusе.

Janice also defended her son against the various sеxual аssault allegations he faces.

“Not being completely transparent about one matter does not mean my son is guilty of the horrific accusations and serious charges against him,” she stated.

“Many people who were wrongfully convicted and later exonerаted lost their freedom not because they were guilty of the crimes alleged, but because they didn’t match society’s idea of a ‘good person.’ History has shown us that individuals can be unjustly convicted due to their past actions or mistakes.”

The Grammy winner’s mother stated that the accusations against her son are driven by individuals seeking financial gain rather than justice.

“Seeing the world make jokes and laugh as my son’s life falls apart is something I will never forget,” Janice expressed in her statement.

“It’s truly painful to witness how quickly and easily the world has turned against my son based on lies and misunderstandings, without giving him a chance to share his perspective.”

Janice also asserted that Diddy’s recent accusers are aiming for a “quick payday” after observing his settlement with Cassie.

“These individuals noticed how swiftly my son’s legal team resolved his ex-girlfriend’s lawsuit and think they can achieve a quick financial gain by falsely accusing him,” she stated.

Additionally, Janice highlighted that “false allegations of sеxual аssault hinder genuine victims of sеxual violence from receiving the justice they rightfully deserve.”

She further claimed that the federal government is exploiting these “lies” to “prosecute” her son.

Janice urged his supporters to allow him the opportunity to defend himself and criticized the way he has been depicted.

“My son is not the monster they’ve made him out to be, and he deserves the chance to share his side. I can only hope to be alive to witness him speak his truth and be exonerаted,” she said.

Diddy was arrested on September 16 in Manhattan and has pleaded not guilty to charges of racketeering conspiracy, sеx trafficking through force, fraud, or coеrcion, and transportation for prоstitution.

The musician has denied all allegations against him.
