Sean ‘P Diddy’ Combs’ life has taken an unusual turn following his recent arrest, with the rapper now held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in New York on sеx trafficking charges, which he strongly denies.
At 54, Diddy faces a challenging situation, but all seven of his children are standing by him as he prepares for trial. However, a peculiar situation involving his “adopted daughter,” Ava Baroni, has resurfaced from a video recorded four years ago.
In a 2020 Instagram Live, Diddy stated he had “adopted” Ava, expressing a desire for her to have a “Black parent.” However, sources now reveal that the video was intended as a skit, and Diddy never formally adopted the girl shown.
The controversial clip shows Diddy kissing Ava’s cheek, saying he had “adopted her” with her mother’s permission, and prompting Ava to introduce herself, to which she responds, “Ava.”
When asked for her full name, she says “Ava Baroni,” and Diddy adds, “Ava Baroni-Combs,” according to The Mirror.
In the video, Ava claims she was “on the streets” until “Papa Combs decided to be a caring man.” Diddy then announces, “Yes, it’s breaking news. Diddy adopted a white child,” encouraging her to share the story of her “adoption.”
“I want you to tell everyone how I adopted you. You still have wonderful parents, but you’re also my child. Please, tell them the story,” Diddy urges.
With Quincy Brown, Diddy’s son, laughing in the background, Ava explains: “I was on the streets, and then Papa Combs decided to be a kind man. He found me and brought me inside to play with his kids.”
“That’s a little questionable, Ava,” the Bad Boy CEO jokes. “I adopted you just like Madonna, Charlize Theron, and Sandra Bullock adopted kids. I wanted you to experience having a Black parent who could care for you. Please make that clear—things are wild online.”
He insists she emphasize her mother’s approval: “You played with the kids, and I had permission from your mom—mention all of that.”
Ava clarifies her deep bond with Diddy’s family: “I met Jessie and D’Lila when I was six months old, and we’ve been like sisters ever since.” Diddy shares his twin daughters, Jessie and D’Lila, with his late ex, Kim Porter.
Despite their close family connection, TMZ reported on Monday that Diddy never legally adopted Ava. According to the report, Ava grew up around the twins due to her parents’ friendship with Kim but was raised by her biological parents.
The outlet also noted that while Ava remains close to D’Lila and Jessie, her relationship with Diddy has not been parental, and recent signs suggest that Ava and her family have since distanced themselves from him.
